August 1933. As the Yankee slugger Babe Ruth steps to the plate, he turns and points towards cente field. The full house at Yankee Stadium turns as one and gasps as a huge black zeppelin comes into view.
On board the zeppelin, various members of the Friends of Justice are in a running battle with the forces of the German mad man known as the Black Baron. Doc Justice and Sebastian Doyle are about to storm the zeppelin's bridge. Veronica Justice is tied up in the Baron's private quarters as the German not-so-nobleman declares his love for her and proposes making her his bride. Betsy Barnes is engaged in a running gun battle with a pair of the Baron's men in the airship's infrastructure while Maxine Sparks searches for the missing Veronica. In the zeppelin's hold, Harry Fenwick and Duncan MacKillop confront Ilsa and Inger, two beautiful lieutenants of the Baron who are preparing to drop the mad German's "mind-softening" powder on the stadium crowd of almost 60,000 which render them highly susceptible to suggestion. And finally, Joey Pulzak was on top of the zeppelin squaring off against the Baron's right-hand men, Big Hans (a giant) and Little Hans (a midget).
As Doc and Sebastian seized the bridge and took control of the black zeppelin, Veronica managed to use the spike on the Baron's Great War German helmet to cut her ropes, but an unfortunate lurch of the airship due to the battle on the bridge threw her into the Baron's arms. Fortunately, that was when Maxine stormed into the room and clobbered Baron Black from behind, allowing the two to flee. Having outgunned her opponents, Betsy joined Maxine and Veronica as they made their way to the bridge. In the hold, Harry used his charms to lure the lovely lady lieutenants away from the drop device while Duncan used a chemical concoction he created to neutralize the "mind-softening" powder. Atop the lurching zeppelin, Joey's battle with Big and Little Hans raged. Joey's skill in the art of pugilism served him well and soon Little Hans was hanging on for dear life to a rope on the outside of the airship while Big Hans plummeted to the baseball field below in a fall that only toughest (like Hans) could survive. As Joey looked down, he saw a small German airplane with the Black Baron at its control exit the airship. With the airship barely under control and no way to pursue, the Friends of Justice would have to settle the score with the Black Baron another day.
